
Bulls Fall At Kent State, 3-0

KENT, OH - The University at Buffalo volleyball team completed its first MAC road weekend with a 3-0 loss at Kent State on Saturday evening. The loss drops the Bulls to 12-6 on the season and 2-2 in MAC play.
The Golden Flashes took the contest 25-12, 25-20, 25-15 as they hit .242 for the contest, compared to just .050 for UB. The Bulls were tied 8-8 in the first set and they pulled within four at 16-12, but the Golden Flashes scored the final nine points of the set to go up 1-0 in the match.
UB led 11-8 in the second set following a kill from junior Amber Hatchett, but the set became tied at 14-14. Kent State went on a 4-0 run to take an 18-14 lead, but UB responded with four points of its own to tie it up at 18-18. Kent State scored another four straight points to go up 22-18 and went on to take the set, 25-20.
The Bulls got out to an early 3-1 lead, but a 5-0 run gave Kent State a 6-3 lead and they never trailed again. The Golden Flashes extended the lead to 23-13 and went on to win the set, 25-15.
The Bulls were led offensively by Hatchett and freshman Skyler Day, who each had seven kills. For Day, it was a career high in kills. Junior Megan Lipski added six kills. Sophomore Megan Lin ran the offense with 26 assists.
Defensively, Lipski and freshman Niki Bozinoski had eight digs, while senior Sable Staller added seven. Lin and Day each had six. Lin and junior Akeila Lain both finished with five total blocks.
UB will remain on the road Thursday evening when they head to Akron for a 7:00 pm match.
