
Bulls Have Win Streak Snapped At Ohio

ATHENS, OH - The University at Buffalo volleyball team had its five-match win streak snapped on Friday evening as the Bulls were swept at Ohio, 3-0. The loss drops the Bulls to 12-5 on the year and 2-1 in conference play.
Ohio took the contest 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 as the Bobcats hit .312 for the contest, compared to just .090 for the Bulls. Ohio raced out to an early 8-2 lead in the opening set and trailed just once following the opening point. UB was able to pull no closer than eight late in the set.
UB scored the first five points of the second set, including two of the points coming on kills from junior Amber Hatchett. However, Ohio was able to tie it back up and went on to take a 14-11 lead. UB kept it within four at 19-15, but Ohio ended the set on a 6-2 run.
The Bobcats then opened the third set on an 11-4 run and UB was able to pull no closer than seven as Ohio took the final set, 25-16.
The Bulls were led by Hatchett, who finished with nine kills and no errors as she hit a team-high .529. Fellow junior Akeila Lain added seven kills, while Sable Staller added four. Sophomore Megan Lin finished with a team-high 26 assists.
Defensively, Staller, Lin, and junior Megan Lipski each finished with seven digs, while freshman Skyler Day finished with six. The Bulls had three total blocks, including two from Day, who added a solo.
UB remains on the road tomorrow as it faces Kent State on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
