Swimmers Compete at Ohio State Winter Meet

COLUMBUS, OH – Five members of the University at Buffalo men's and women's swim teams competed over the weekend at the Ohio State Winter Invitational at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavillion. There was no team scoring in the meet that also included several additional Mid-American Conference schools as well as the host Buckeyes.
Representing the UB men's team were Austin Kowalsky, Paul Garman, Jacob Hofmar-Glennon and Zach Rice. Katelyn Grimm was the lone individual from the UB women's squad.
Hofmar-Glennon scored a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke final on Sunday in 1:55.44 and was sixth in the 200-yard individual medley final in 2:04.48. He finished seventh in Saturday's 100-yard backstroke final in 52.61.
Garman turned in a fourth-place finish in Sunday's 200-yard individual medley in 1:56.91 and also finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle final in 1:44.18. On Saturday, he was eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke final (58.98) and 10th in the 100-yard freestyle final (47.41).
Rice earned an eighth-place finish in Saturday's 500-yard freestyle final in 4:40.72. He was also seventh in Sunday's 1,650-yard freestyle final in 16:28.96 and eighth in the 200-yard freestyle final in 1:47.45.
Kowalsky finished fifth in Sunday's 50-yard freestyle final in 21.45. He took 10th in Saturday's 100-yard butterfly final and 12th in the 100-yard freestyle final (47.06).
Grimm finished sixth in Saturday's women's 100-yard freestyle in 52.93. She was also 10th in both the women's 50-yard freestyle (24.93) and 200-yard freestyle (1:57.40) and on Sunday.
