
Bulls End Weekend With 3-0 Loss To UAB

SOUTH BEND, IN – The University at Buffalo volleyball team concluded action at the Shamrock Invitational on Sunday morning, falling to Alabama-Birmingham, 3-0. The loss to UAB was UB's first 3-0 defeat of the season, evening its record at 3-3.
The Blazers took the match 25-16, 25-17, 25-21 as they hit .303 over the three sets, opposed to just .055 for the Bulls. UB kept things close early in each of the three sets, but UAB managed to pull away in each time.
Junior Dana Musil led the way with eight kills and 17 digs, while freshman Megan Lipski finished with six kills and six digs. Following the match Lipski was named to the All-Tournament team. Junior Carissa McKenna added five kills and just one error, while Akeila Lain added three kills and four total blocks. Junior setter Dani Reinert had 16 assists, two kills, eight digs and two aces.
UAB was led by 12 kills from Sam Skinner and 11 kills from Kirsten Gallagher. Rachel Fairbanks had 17 digs and Alison Woods added 26 assists.
The Bulls remain on the road next weekend when they head to the Cleveland State Invitational. The Bulls face the host Vikings on Friday night at 7:00 pm.
