
Bulls Fall In Four Sets To Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, IN – The University at Buffalo volleyball team fell in its first true road match of the year, dropping a four-set contest at Notre Dame on the second night of the Shamrock Invitational. The loss drops UB's record to 3-2 as it concludes tournament play tomorrow.
The Fighting Irish took the contest 25-23, 25-10, 23-25, 25-18 as they hit .384 for the match, opposed to just .127 for the Bulls. The Bulls trailed for nearly the entire first set as Notre Dame led 24-20, before Buffalo fought off three set points. However, the Fighting Irish scored the final point for the victory. After Notre Dame won the second set, the Bulls came back for a hard fought victory in the third set.
The Bulls trailed 21-18 in the third set, but two quick points pulled them within one. The two teams tied it up at 23-23 with the Bulls going ahead on a kill from junior Dana Musil. The Bulls clinched the set with a block from Musil and fellow junior Carissa McKenna, sending the match to a fourth set, which was won by the Fighting Irish.
Freshman Megan Lipski led the way for the Bulls with 11 kills, her second straight 11-kill performance. Fellow freshman Akeila Lain added eight kills and six blocks, while Musil also finished with eight kills and a team-high 10 digs. Dani Reinert finished with 33 assists and four service aces.
Buffalo concludes play at the Shamrock Invitational when it faces UAB at 11:30 am.
