Two New Players Added to 2012-13 Women's Soccer Team

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo Women's Soccer coach Michael Thomas announced two new members to the 2012 team today. Coach Thomas announced that Williamsville South graduate Rachel Cook and Albany transfer Kerrianne Madigan will be joining the team for the 2012 campaign.
Madigan comes to UB from the University at Albany, where she tallied one assist and played in seven games in her freshman campaign. Before playing for the Great Danes, she was captain of her Hicksville High School soccer team. Kerrianne was named all-conference, all-classification, and all-country during her time there. In addition to her prep duties, Madigan also competed for the Albertson Fury Soccer Club where her team won the U17 Eastern New York State Cup, and she finished in the top four in the Region I regionals. At the 2011 regional tournament, Madigan notched four goals to put her among the tournament leaders.
"Kerrianne is a player who will come in and compete to play up front," head coach Michael Thomas said. "We have seen her play wide and play in the center of the field and she is effective in either position. Paul Riley and the Albertson Fury have done a great job of giving her a very strong background and we look forward to getting her onto campus and onto the field."
Cook comes to the Bulls from right down the road at Williamsville South High School, where she was named second team All-Western New York and All-Conference her senior year. She spent the early part of her prep education at Christian Central High School, where she was a three-time IAC All-Star selection while racking up 104 goals. In addition to this, she is a product of the local Blackwatch Soccer Club and is currently playing for the U18 Buffalo Soccer Academy.
"Rachel is a versatile player who can compete at any position on the field. We look forward to seeing what her role will be within the Buffalo program."
The two players join incoming recruits Kassidy Kidd and Kristin Markiewicz on a young talented Bulls squad which returns 11 players who started 12 or more games next year while going 12-5-4 before eventually losing in the conference semi-final.
