Bulls Overpowered By Ball State

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo softball team concluded the home portion of its schedule on Sunday afternoon, falling to Ball State, 13-0, at Nan Harvey Field. Today's game was the final home contest for Haylee Land, Holly Johnson and Kristin Waldron.
Neither team was able to crack into the run column over the first two innings as Johnson picked up the start for UB. However, the Cardinals turned it on offensively in the third as they scored three runs. Ball State added four runs in the fourth and then six runs in the top of the fifth.
Buffalo had its chances early on, but left seven runners on base over the first three innings, including leaving the bases loaded in the first. In all, the Bulls left 10 runners on base over the five innings.
Buffalo had four hits on the afternoon with one of those coming from Waldron in her final home game. Also picking up hits were Alexis Curtiss, Alyssa Ward and Tori Pettine. Curtiss led off the first inning with a double.
Johnson picked up the loss as she went 3.2 innings before being replaced by Land. Both Johnson and Land recorded one strikeout on the afternoon.
The Bulls will conclude the regular season next weekend when they head to Ohio and Akron. UB faces the Bobcats in a doubleheader on Friday at 1pm.
