
Alie Schirmers Becomes First Female Bull To Qualify For U.S. Olympic Trials

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo swimmer Alie Schirmers became the first UB female to qualify for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials following her performance at the Eastern Zone Speedo Sectional Meet at the University of Pittsburgh.
Schirmers qualified in the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:35.63 to move on to the Olympic Trials. While she is the first UB swimmer on the women's side to qualify for the meet she joins Phil Aronica, Matt Hogan, Matt Dugan and Matt Schwippert, who all qualified on the men's side.
Schirmers holds the UB school record in the 200 breaststroke and is also part of the school-record 800 Freestyle Relay team.
