Hot Shooting Bonnies Too Much For Bulls

OLEAN, NY – The host St. Bonaventure Bonnies shot extremely well, especially from three point range, Saturday evening, defeating the Buffalo women's basketball team, 76-45. The Bonnies improved to 8-1 on the season, while UB drops to 3-7.
After a quick start by the Bulls where they forced four early turnovers, the Bonnies showed their ability to run their offense, led by Jessica Jenkins, who had 13 first half points. UB led 6-2 before a 13-2 run by the Bonnies gave them a 15-8 lead. The Bulls did have an opportunity to cut into the St. Bonaventure lead as they had the ball down just 24-18, but following a missed shot, the Bonnies went on a 12-0 run over the final 2:52 of the first half.
St. Bonaventure continued its outstanding shooting in the second half as led by nearly 30 for much of the final 20 minutes. The Bonnies not only shot well in the second half, but also did a much better job of controlling the ball, often working much of the shot clock.
The Bulls were able to get quality minutes from their freshmen as both Sloane Walton and Valerie Majewski made second half impacts, however the Bonnies were too much.
UB was led in scoring by Brittany Hedderson, who went over the 1,000 point mark in her career, just the 20th players in school history to do so. Hedderson finished with nine points. Senior Teresa Semalulu had six points and five rebounds, while Beth Christensen finished with five points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Majewski and junior Nicki Hopkins each had five points. Walton came on to hit her second collegiate three pointer.
After an extended break for finals, the Bulls will be back in action on Tuesday, December 20 when they head to Washington, DC to face Howard. Tip off is at 7:00 pm.
