BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's and women's swimming and diving teams have both earned a ninth-place ranking in the first CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Division I Top 25 Rankings, released this week.
Now in its 10th year, the Mid-Major Rankings serve to provide an objective point system to compare teams' relative strength in a traditional dual meet lineup. The ranking is available to those institutions that a) are not members of a BCS conference or the Mountain West Conference, or b) provide fewer than one-half of the allowable scholarships under the NCAA rules.
In the men's poll, the Bulls are ranked ninth with 218.45 points. The UB women accumulated 227.70 points in the poll for their number nine ranking. Harvard (233.23) and Towson (240.33) lead the men's and women's rankings, respectively.
This is the first of four rankings during the season by CollegeSwimming.com. Other ranking dates include mid-December, following invitational meets, early-February, prior to the conference championship meets and a final ranking in early March.
UB's divers are competing this weekend at the Wildcat Diving Invitational in Tucson, AZ. The full team is next in action December 2-4 at Akron's Zippy Invitational.
