Buffalo Falls to Northern Illinois, 1-0
Freshman goalie Ainsley Wheldon recorded her third 10-save game of the season, but her only goal allowed in the game proved to be the difference as the Bulls fell to Northern Illinois, 1-0. After playing an even first half, the Huskies came out shooting in the second half, scoring in the 48th minute of the game off a corner kick. Northern Illinois took 13 shots in the final half to ramp up the pressure on the Bulls back end.
Bulls Hold Western Michigan Scoreless in 0-0 Draw
The Buffalo women's soccer team ended its extended road trip on a high note Sunday afternoon, holding Western Michigan scoreless to earn its first points in conference play. Freshman goalie Ainsley Wheldon earned her first career shutout after making three saves, and the defense helped cool down a hot Broncos offense.
This shutout was the team's first in nearly a year, as the last came Oct. 11, 2009 against Northern Illinois. The team also hasn't played in overtime since a 1-0 win over Niagara early last season. Just two days after the Broncos lit up Kent State with five goals, the Bulls held the team to just three shots on goal.
By the Numbers
Wheldon's 13 saves over the weekend vaulted her to the top of the conference standings. Through four MAC games, the Waterloo, Ontario native has 23 saves. Aside from her number one rank in saves, she also ranks fourth in conference play in saves per game and tenth in save percentage.

The Bulls, now 0-3-1 in the MAC, will return home for an extended home stand, welcoming in Central Michigan Friday at 7:00 pm and Eastern Michigan Sunday at noon. The five straight games at the friendly confines of UB Stadium represent a crucial point in the team's conference season.
