
Bulls Fall To Bowling Green, 3-1

BOWLING GREEN, OH – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team returned to play against the MAC East, but struggled at Bowling Green on Friday night, falling to the Falcons, 3-1, in UB's last ever visit to Anderson Arena.
The Falcons took the contest 25-19, 25-9, 20-25, 25-21 as they hit .278 on the night, opposed to .194 for the Bulls. Following victories in the first two sets, it looked like the Bulls might be poised to stage a late comeback.
UB was down early in the third, trailing 10-6, but five straight points for the Bulls gave them an 11-10 lead. Tied at 17-17, UB had a 3-0 run to go up 20-17 in the set. A 5-3 run at the end of the set pulled UB to within 2-1 in the match.
The Bulls got out to a quick 7-0 lead in the fourth set and led by as much as 10-3, but the Falcons fought back and tied things up at 17-17. Things remained tied at 19-19, but the Falcons went on to score three straight points to take a 22-19 lead. Bowling Green scored three of the final five points of the contest to take the win.
Junior Abby Niekamp led the way for the Bulls with 12 kills and no errors on 21 total swings. Freshman Dana Musil also finished in double figures with 10 kills, while Kayla Govier had eight. Senior Lindsey Schlegel added 28 assists, while Dani Reinert had 12. Niekamp, Musil and freshman Kelly Svoboda each had a service ace.
Defensively, Svoboda had 13 digs, while Musil completed the double-double with 12 digs. Schlegel added eight digs on the evening. Freshman Carissa McKenna led the way on the blocking front with seven total blocks, including three solo blocks. Govier and senior Marisa Hornbaker each her two total blocks.
The Bulls remain on the road tomorrow as they head to Miami (OH). The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm.
