
Comeback Falls Short In Five Sets At Kent State

KENT, OH – The University at Buffalo volleyball team had four players in double figures in kills, but the Bulls were unable to stage a full come back, falling at Kent State, 3-2, Friday night at the M.A.C. Center. The loss drops UB to 13-6 overall and 1-2 in the MAC.
The Golden Flashes took the contest 25-23, 26-28, 27-25, 20-25, 15-9 despite UB recording 23 more kills and nine more digs. The downfall for the Bulls in the contest came in two critical areas as Kent State recorded 19.0 total team blocks opposed to UB's 6.0 and in the serving department where UB recorded 17 service errors.
UB had opportunities in each set, tying things up at 23-23 in the first and having a set point in the third.
The Bulls were led by a career-high 19 kills from senior Kristin Bignell, who hit a team best .359. Freshman Dana Musil added 13 kills and a career-best 23 digs, while Kayla Govier added 11 kills and Abby Niekamp chipped in with 10. Niekamp also had a career-high three service aces. Senior Lindsey Schlegel had a season-high 51 assists.
Defensively, freshman Kelly Svoboda led the way with 24 kills, while Musil added 23. Schlegel also finished in double figures in digs with 11.
The Bulls continue their road trip tomorrow night as they head to Ohio. The match in Athens in set for 7:00 pm.
