Bulls Drop MAC Opener To Miami, 62-55

UFFALO, NY – The visiting Miami RedHawks outscored the University at Buffalo women's basketball team 36-24 in the second half as the Bulls fell in their Mid-American Conference opener, 62-55, Wednesday night at Alumni Arena.
After going down 7-2 early in the first half, the Bulls staged an 11-2 run over the next seven minutes to take a 13-9 lead as the Bulls led throughout the opening half. The Bulls led by as many as seven points in the opening half on a three from freshman Abby Dowd. Dowd had 11 points in the first, including three treys.

The second half belonged to Miami though as the RedHawks quickly erased UB's five-point halftime lead. Over the first 14:30 of the second half, Miami outscored the Bulls 33-9 to take their largest lead of the game at 59-40 on a three-point play from Courtney Osborn. However, the Bulls would not give up as they attempted to make a late comeback. Down 61-44 with 3:46 left, the Bulls would end the game on an 11-1 run, capped off by the fourth three of the game from Dowd.
The Bulls were led by 19 points and 13 rebounds from junior Kourtney Brown who picked up her fourth straight double-double. Brown added an assist, a block and four steals on the night. Dowd registered a new career high with 16 points, including four made three-pointers. She also had four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Dowd did not record a turnover in 40 minutes of action. Also finishing in double figures was Jessica Fortman who had 10 points and six rebounds. Freshman Nytor Longar finished with six points and five rebounds in just eight minutes of action.

Miami was led by 30 points from Osborn and 12 points from Maggie Boyer. Erin Wisner had a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Bulls continue conference play on Saturday afternoon as they begin a two-game road trip at Akron. Tipoff against the Zips is set for 2:00 pm.
