Second Half Charge Leads Falcons Past Bulls, 78-60

BOWLING GREEN, OH – For the first 15 minutes of Wednesday night's game against Bowling Green, it looked like the University at Buffalo women's basketball team was poised to upset the five-time defending MAC champions, however the Falcons responded with a strong second half as UB fell, 78-60, at Anderson Arena. JuniorKourtney Brown led the Bulls with her sixth straight double-double.
The Bulls led for most of the first half as an early 9-2 run gave the Bulls a four-point lead on a jumper from Brittany Hedderson, who saw action for the first time in a month. Another bucket by Hedderson with 5:24 left in the half gave the Bulls their largest lead of the game at 25-20. However, the Falcons would end the half on a 15-3 run as they took a seven-point lead into the break.

The Falcons continued their strong offensive play in the second half as BGSU began the half on an 18-7 run, taking an 18-point lead with 12:04 left in the half. Bowling Green led by as many as 21 points in the game, but a three-pointer from freshman Abby Dowd with two seconds left in the game made the final score, 78-60.
The Bulls were led by Brown who had 20 points and 13 rebounds for her sixth straight double-double. It was Brown's second straight 20-point performance as she recently went over 1,000 points for her career. Brown also had five blocked shots for the second straight game. Ten of Brown's 13 rebounds came on the offensive end as she continued to add to her league-leading rebounding total.

Junior Jessica Fortman also recorded double figures with 13 points and six rebounds, while freshman Chrissy Cooper added eight points and three rebounds. Hedderson had eight points and four rebounds in her return to the lineup.
Bowling Green had 12 different scorers and four players in double figures led by 16 from Tracy Pontius. Jen Uhl had 13 points, while Tara Breske added 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Bulls return home following their two-game road trip as they host Ohio on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff against the Bobcats is set for 2:00 pm.
