BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team scored the first six points of the game and never looked back as the Bulls rolled all over Youngstown State on Sunday afternoon, 92-38, at Alumni Arena. The 54-point victory was UB's largest since a 53-point win during the 1991-92 season. UB had 13 different players find the scoring column.
While the 92 points scored by UB were its most since the 2006-07 season, it was the Bulls' defensive effort that had the coaching staff most proud. The Bulls limited the Penguins to just 20.7 percent in the opening half as the Bulls rolled to a 47-18 halftime lead. 14 different players saw action in the opening half, including Meghan George who played for the first time since the 2007-08 season. Sophomore Teresa Semalulu had a career-high seven rebounds, including six in the first half despite playing only three minutes. Also notching a career-high before halftime was freshman Nytor Longar who scored six of her 10 points before the break.

The second half was much of the same story as the Bulls shot a blistering 61.3 percent from the floor and their defensive effort was just as good limiting the Penguins to 20 points in the half. The Bulls led by as many as 55 points in the game. Freshman Amy Gardner also had career numbers with eight points, including her first collegiate three-pointer. Also heating up in that second half was sophomore Brittany Hedderson who scored 17 of her career-high 25 points in the final 20 minutes. Hedderson went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
"I was excited about the teamwork and that we played focused basketball for 40 minutes," said head coach Linda Hill-MacDonald. "We have seen this team struggle, but we put it all together today and came out with a total team performance."

In addition to the numerous individual career highs, as a team the Bulls also put forth some top marks. The 92 points were the most the Bulls have scored since scoring 90 against Central Michigan on Feb. 10, 2007. The 38 points allowed by the Bulls were their fewest since allowing just 35 points to Albany on Dec. 6, 2006. UB's 54-point victory was their largest margin of victory since a 115-62 victory over St. Francis (NY) on Nov. 30, 1991.
The 25 points from Hedderson were her most since scoring 19 in UB's season-opener against Niagara. Junior Kourtney Brown played just 21 minutes and recorded nine points and a game-high nine rebounds, while adding four steals. Freshman Abby Dowd had seven points and tied her career-high with five assists, while adding a block and two assists.
