2019: Played in 71 sets as she finished with 99 kills and 58 blocks…had 12 kills and just two errors against Colgate (9/1) and added 11 kills and just two errors against Canisius (9/21)…had a season high 6.0 blocks against Marist (8/31) and North Dakota State (9/14).
2018: Had a breakout season as she was named second-team All-MAC…played in all 113 sets and led the Bulls with 110.0 total blocks, including 21 solo blocks…notched double figures in kills seven times, including 12-kill performances against St. John’s (9/1) and Howard (9/15)…led UB in hitting percentage at .326 for the season, including eight matches where she hit .500 or better…had a career high 10 blocks against Eastern Michigan (10/19) and had nine blocks against Northwestern (9/7)…recorded at least one block in all, but one match this season.
2017: Played in 82 sets during the season, finishing with 83 kills and 56.0 total blocks, which was third on the team…had a career-best 11 kills, while recording no errors in a five-set match against Seton Hall (9/1)…added seven kills in wins over Coppin State (9/8) and Georgetown (9/9)…had six kills on four other occasions…finished with a season-high six total blocks, including five assists against Bowling Green (11/11)…had five blocks against Western Michigan (10/14) and added four total blocks six other times.
Previous School: Played in 24 matches as a freshmen at St. Peter’s College in New Jersey...she finished fourth on the team in kills and second on the team in blocks...had a career high nine kills vs. NJIT and finished with four total blocks five different times.
High School: Earned three letters and captained one season for head coaches Alima Pudup and Kelly Goodhand at Passaic County Technical Institute...is her high schools all-time leader in kills and blocks and became the first very volleyball player from her high school to earn a D-I scholarship...earned all-league and all-conference honors in 2015, while leading the state of New Jersey in blocks...played her club volleyball for Monica Dempsey and Sideout Sports Volleyball.
Personal: Born July 1, 1998...daughter of Jose and Sylvia Nieves...has two brothers (Christopher & Sean) and one sister (Jacqueline)...also enjoys baseball---favorite foods are quesadillas, steak, buffalo chicken, and pizza...chose UB because of the welcoming atmosphere both on campus and in the gym as well as the strong academics...lists her dream as a college athlete is to make it to the NCAA Tournament.
