Zach Monell joined the University at Buffalo Athletic Department in August of 2019. In August of 2022, he was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. At UB, Monell is the primary contact for men’s basketball, women’s volleyball, and softball.
Monell is a May 2017 graduate of Niagara University where he received a B.S. in Sport Management and minor in Communications. He then graduated from the College at Brockport in December of 2018 where he received his M.S.Ed. with a concentration in Athletic Administration.
At Niagara University, Monell served as lead game operations intern for men’s and women’s basketball from 2014-2017. He was fortunate enough to work Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco where he worked with NFL on Location.
While receiving his M.S.Ed., he interned in the athletic communications department where he witnessed the historic run by both the football and men’s basketball programs. Football finished the season with 10 wins as the men’s basketball team was ranked for 19 straight weeks in the AP Top-25 Poll.
He also worked with the Buffalo Bills media relations department from 2017-19.
Monell currently resides in Buffalo with his wife, Andrea and dog, Sam.
