GAME 5 VS. HOFSTRA
Buffalo got on the board early as they capitalized on Hofstra miscues. Emily Gorman started the contest with a single followed by a Reagan Terwilliger walk. With runners on first and second, Nicole Allen reached base on a throwing error by the second baseman. Gorman came around to score on the play. Abbey Nagel ripped a 2-RBI double to left to put the Bulls in front, 3-0. Bri Delaney got in on the action as she put a ball in play to left that scored Nagel.
The Pride managed to get runners on the corners, but failed to score as the Bulls held a 4-0 lead after the first.
The Bulls added to their lead in the second as Terwilliger hit an RBI single through the left side to score Gorman. Allen then hit an RBI double that scored Terwilliger to extend Buffalo's lead to 6-0. Hofstra got on the board in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single as the Bulls led after two, 6-1.
Delaney led the third inning off with a solo blast to left, her second home run of the season. Later in the inning, Terwilliger forced another run in with a bases loaded walk to score Ardyn Hopf. Hofstra responded trailing 8-1. A 2-RBI triple made it an 8-3 game as an RBI single cut Buffalo's lead to 8-4.
Tabitha von Kolen ripped her first triple of the season in timely fashion as it scored Delaney and Nagel. Leading 10-4, Gorman drove in von Kolen with an RBI single to make it 11-4.
Hofstra used the long ball in the bottom of the fourth inning to get back in the game. They hit three home runs to score five runs in the inning to make it an 11-9 Buffalo lead.
Runs were hard to come by for both teams as the score remained 11-9 with both teams combining for five hits in the final three innings. Olivia Russ earned the win, her fourth of the season.
Gorman had a game-high three hits. Allen and Nagel also had multi-hit performances. Terwilliger, Nagel and von Kolen each had two RBIs.
The Bulls are back in action on Friday, March 13th as they'll open conference play at Northern Illinois for a three-game series.
