Women’s Basketball Hosts Ball State on Pride Night at Alumni Arena on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball team continues Mid-American Conference action on Wednesday as they host Ball State on Pride Night at Alumni Arena at 6pm.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Matt Mattia (color) announcing and can be heard on 1520 AM and the Varsity Network with Vinnie Christiano III on the call.
This is the 42nd overall meeting between Buffalo and Ball State with the Cardinals owning a 25-16 series advantage. The Bulls fell to the Cardinals in Muncie on January 14.
Buffalo scored 41 second half points, but the rally fell short in a 72-61 loss at Bowling Green on February 10. The Bulls, who started four freshmen for the sixth straight game, saw all four rookies score in double figures, led by Meg Lucas who recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Aniya Rowe scored in double figures for the sixth straight game with 13 points, Ella Corry added 12 and Diann Jackson scored in double figures for the third straight game, narrowly missed out on a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. It is the first time four freshmen have scored in double figures in the program's Division I era.
Rowe leads the Bulls offensively, averaging 13.2 points per game. She has scored in double figures 14 times and leads UB in three-point field goal percentage (.357), assists (78) and minutes played (30.3) while also ranking seventh in the league in steals per contest (2.0). Lucas is second in the MAC and ranks 31st nationally in rebounding (9.9 rpg). The Bulls are second the MAC and rank 40th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (14.4). UB has started four freshmen in seven straight games and has started three rookies 13 times. They are one of two teams in the MAC to have a rookie leading them in minutes played.
Ball State is 21-5 overall and 12-1 in league play after defeating Bowling Green 82-67 on Saturday. The Cardinals clinched a spot in the 2026 MAC Tournament in Cleveland with their win at Eastern Michigan on February 10. The Cardinals are balanced offensively with three players averaging in double figures led by Bree Salenbien who is averaging 15.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Tessa Towers (14.5 ppg, 8.2 prg) and Grace Kingery (13.0 ppg) are also averaging in double figures while Karsyn Norman (9.8 ppg) leads the team in assists (128).
As a team, Ball State leads the MAC and ranks in the top 10 nationally in rebounds (43.6) and assists (19.2) per game while ranking 13th in the nation in rebound margin (+9.6), 19th in field goal percentage (46.7) and 24th in scoring (79.0).
Up next, Buffalo will travel to Ypsilanti for a contest at Eastern Michigan on Saturday, February 21 at 2pm.
