
Track & Field Returns to Action at Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track and field program returns to action on Saturday at the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
The Bulls return to action following three meets before the winter break. The program has made the most of the early-season action thus far, posting nine personal record performances that joined the UB indoor ranks. All nine athletes are scheduled to compete on Saturday at Penn State.
Michael Parks set a new personal best time of 8.00 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles event at Akron to rise to third in UB indoor history. Four more athletes joined Parks at Akron to rise or enter the UB indoor record book. Micah Blair earned the fifth spot in the indoor long jump program rankings with a mark of 7.38 meters. Gemma Galligani took the seventh spot on the indoor 60-meter hurdles leaderboard with a time of 8.64 seconds. Sam Mellinger joined the record book at 10th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.89 seconds. Sophia Sampson rounded out the Bulls' all-time performances at Akron, taking the 10th spot in the 200-meter dash rankings (25.08). Sampson was the first female Buffalo sprinter to join the 200-meter dash ranks since Selina Von Jackowski in 2018 (24.63).
The Bulls had two more performances join the program ranks at the Houghton December Classic. Sophomore Linnea Neureuther earned the ninth spot in UB indoor history with a mark of 12.02 meters in the triple jump. Freshman Nicalis Williams joined program history in his debut, entering the triple jump ranks at eighth with a mark of 14.71 meters. Stella Kapp also tied her indoor personal record high jump mark of 1.75 meters that ranks fourth in program history.
Sophomores Aidan Norris (4th, 4:07.62) and Vincent Guaresimo (7th, 4:09.97) also rose the ranks of the men's mile at Boston University's Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener.
