BUFFALO, N.Y. – University at Buffalo Women's Volleyball Head Coach Scott Smith announced the addition of Leah Meyer to his staff as the program's third assistant coach and director of volleyball operations on Tuesday.
Meyer joins the UB coaching staff after playing internationally in France where she helped her squad win the LNV Ligue A Féminine title. The Clarence, N.Y. native played at Duke (2015-18) and at Kentucky (2019). During her collegiate career, she racked up 1,153 kills, 580 blocks and 1,507.0 points. She helped the Blue Devils and Wildcats to an 81-42 (.659) overall record.
At Duke, Meyer was a two-time First-Team All-ACC honoree (2016 & 2018) and took home All-ACC Freshman Team recognition (2015). While helping Kentucky to a 25-7 overall record and a trip to the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament, she garnered AVCA All-America Honorable Mention.
"Leah is no stranger to our gym, having worked with our program as a volunteer in the spring of 2023," stated Head Coach Scott Smith. "She was invaluable to our middle blocker group, being able to impart her years of experience playing at the highest levels of the NCAA and the professional circuit! Leah is coming back to Buffalo from Paris where she and her team just won the LNV Ligue A Féminine title. While she will mainly work with our middle blockers and our overall attacking on the court, Leah will also be contributing behind the scenes, in the office, as a full-time member of the staff this Fall."
Meyer graduated from Duke in May of 2019 with her Batchelor of Science in Evolutionary Anthropology where she served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). At Kentucky, she earned her MBA in May of 2020.
The Bulls are set to open the 2025 season on Friday, Aug. 29 against Liberty at the Buffalo Invite presented by UB Dental.
