
Amos, Kuany and Walker to Compete at NCAA East First Rounds on Friday & Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University at Buffalo track and field program is sending Zahra Amos, Akuot Kuany and Aiden Walker to compete in this year's NCAA East First Rounds on the University of North Florida campus. The trio of Bulls will compete on Friday and Saturday for their chance to qualify for NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Walker finished the outdoor season by ranking 15th in the NCAA in the discus throw and ninth in the NCAA northeast. The junior earned a MAC silver medal in the event at conference outdoor championships two weeks ago, setting a new school record of 60.48 meters. Walker surpassed his previous school record of 57.26 meters set earlier in the season at the Geneseo Spring Opener. The junior is set to compete on Friday at 1 p.m.
For Walker to qualify for NCAA Championships, the junior would need to place inside the top 12 at NCAA East First Rounds in the discus throw.
Amos and Kuany are tied to rank 52nd in the NCAA and 16th in the NCAA Northeast with a mark of 1.78 meters in the high jump. Kuany earned a MAC bronze medal at conference championships with a mark of 1.71 meters. The freshman cleared the 1.71 meter mark on her first attempt. Amos did not podium, clearing the 1.71 meter mark on her second attempt, but failing to surpass the 1.76 meter mark after. The two high jumpers are set to compete at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
