GREENWOOD, Ind. – A pair of members from the University at Buffalo softball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Softball Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Taking home the honors this year are juniors Abbey Nagel and Emily Watters. This marks the first time in their careers that they've earned CSC Academic All-District honors.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and they must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility with at least one full calendar year completed at his/her current institution.
The 2025 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Nagel led the Bulls with 53 hits, good for 15th in the MAC. She finished the conference season top-10 in home runs (7), RBIs (25), total bases (57) and slugging percentage (.663). The junior led the team with 9 home runs and 11 doubles to go with her .346 batting average. Nagel had a two-home run day against the Toledo Rockets (4/19) as she became the 14th Bull to go hard twice in a game. The first baseman tallied 126 putouts in conference play, good for seventh. After earning the only MAC player of the week honor this season for the Bulls, Nagel took home Second-Team honors. In the classroom, she has a 3.598 cumulative GPA.
Watters appeared in 15 games for the Bulls, including six starts. Through her 36.1 innings pitched, she struck out 20 batters. Against Loyola-Chicago (3/8), she struck out a season-high four batters as she threw 5.0 shutout innings. On the year, she earned a 3-5 record in the circle.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced later this month.
