CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Mid-American Conference announced postseason awards for the outdoor track and field season following last weekend's MAC Outdoor Championships in Athens, Ohio. Seven student-athletes from the University at Buffalo track and field program were named All-MAC Second Team.
Aiden Walker earned an All-MAC Second Team selection after setting a new school record of 60.48 meters in the men's discus throw. Walker's record earned a second-place finish and his first MAC medal. The junior surpassed his previous school record of 57.26 meters set earlier in the season at the Geneseo Spring Opener. Walker has now exceeded Matt Gac's long-standing school record of 56.39 meters twice this season, a record that had sat atop the UB outdoor record book since 2010.
Collin Stafford was named to the All-MAC Second Team following a school record performance and a silver medal finish in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. The freshman became the second runner in program history to break the nine-minute mark in the event with a time of 8:55.94, surpassing Luke Stoeffler's record of 8:58.22 set earlier in the season at the Penn Relays.
Matt Gensel earned All-MAC Second Team honors after a second-place finish in the men's 10,000-meter with a time of 31:37.44, receiving the second MAC medal of his career. The junior has now earned a medal in the 10,000-meter for two consecutive years.
Jack Faldetta, Justin Kleppel, Sam Mellinger and Rylee VanAlstine were named to the All-MAC Second Team for finishing second in the men's 4x100-meter relay. The Bulls posted a season-best time of 41.62 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay and were just shy of the school record for the event (39.88).
