COLUMBUS, OHIO – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team saw their 2024-25 season come to an end with a 4-0 loss to #4 Ohio State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the Auer Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.
The Buckeyes took the doubles point with wins at first and third doubles to go up 1-0 in the match. Senior Jagmeet Kaur and freshman Blanca Berges were locked in a tight battle at second doubles when play was stopped.
After a lengthy weather delay, Berges gave the Bulls a spark as she won her first set, 6-3, at six singles, but the Buckeyes clinched the victory with wins at first, fifth and fourth singles.
Today's match was the final one for Kaur, who ended a successful two seasons in Buffalo as a MAC champion. As a team, the Bulls finished the year with a 20-8 overall record, which ties the single-season program record for the second time in three years.
"I'm so proud of this team," said head coach Kristen Maines. "The determination, focus and grit that our young team demonstrated all the way through against the #4 school in the country was incredible. They played with no fear, stayed focused on the task and fought to the end. I am looking forward to a bright future for Buffalo women's tennis!"
