
Bull Clinch MAC Tournament Berth With 6-1 Win at Northern Illinois

DEKALB, IL – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team (14-5, 7-1 MAC) defeated Northern Illinois 6-1 on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Bulls clinched a spot in the 2025 Mid-American Conference Tournament, hosted by Western Michigan on April 19-20.
The Bulls got off to a great start by winning the doubles point as Emiliano Jorquera and Faiz Nasyam cruised to a 6-1 victory at third singles and Theodoros Mitsakos and Michael Malkin won 6-4 at second doubles to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead in the match.
Senior Daniils Snaiders put UB up 2-0 as he did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles. Fellow senior Clement Mainguy followed with a straight sets win at the third position, 6-3, 6-2 and Mitsakos clinched the match for UB with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at first singles. Nasyam added to the UB lead as he overcame a dropped first set to win 3-6, 7-6, 10-8 at fifth singles and Jorquera capped the day with a hard-fought 7-6, 7-5 victory at the sixth position.
