BUFFALO, N.Y. – University at Buffalo men's basketball Head Coach George Halcovage III announced the signings of guard Angelo Brizzi (Longwood) and guard/forward Kyle Jones (St. Thomas Aquinas) to the roster for the 2025-26 season.
In his lone season with the Longwood Lancers, Brizzi appeared in all 32 games for the Lancers with 22 starts. He helped the team to an 18-14 overall record and an appearance in the Big South Tournament. Brizzi averaged 6.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game. From the floor, the guard shot .437 percent to go with a .402 three-point percentage. Last season he scored double digits nine times including a career-high 17 points at Radford (1/22) where he went 5-for-7 from the floor including 3 three-pointers. Over the last 10 games of the season, Brizzi averaged 9.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game to go with his .421 field goal and .359 three-point percentage. Prior to Longwood, Brizzi attended Davidson (2023-24) and Villanova (2022-23). In his career, he has scored 415 points to go with his 185 rebounds, 100 assists, 94 steals and .402 field goal percentage.
Jones spent the last three seasons at St. Thomas Aquinas. In his freshman season in 2022-23, the guard/forward averaged 5.8 points and 5.3 rebounds in 18 games played. He helped the Spartans win their fourth straight East Coast Conference (ECC) Tournament Title over Daemen. After battling injury in 2023-24, Jones came back this season where he played in 12 games. He averaged 6.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. After falling to Daemen in the ECC Championship game, they defeated the nation's top team in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament to hand them their only loss on the season. The St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans went 23-7 in the games that Jones played in.
"We are excited to officially welcome Angelo [Brizzi] and Kyle [Jones] into our Buffalo Basketball Program," exclaimed Head Coach George Halcovage III. "I was fortunate to be able to coach Angelo during our time together at Villanova, and I am fired up to reunite with him in Buffalo. He is a talented veteran guard that will make an impact on both ends of the floor for us on day one. I was able to see Kyle play live against Daemen at the end of this past season in Buffalo. Kyle's ability to score while competing at a high level jumped out to me. His game will translate well in the MAC! We can't wait for you all to watch these new Bulls next season!"
