Bulls Defeat Huskies on Friday, 3-1

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (9-24, 4-8 MAC) took down the visiting Northern Illinois Huskies (12-22, 7-8 MAC) at Nan Harvey Field, 3-1.
Reigning MAC Player of the Week Abbey Nagel had a day for the Bulls. She went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a home run and 3 RBIs. Genevieve Longsdorf went the distance for the Bulls in the circle as she allowed 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 5 Huskies.
After a scoreless two innings of MACtion, Nagel gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead on a solo blast to right center. In the bottom of the fourth, Nagel added to Buffalo's lead on a 2-RBI double to left center that scored Mia Mitchell and Ava Thelen.
Leading 3-0, the Huskies cut into the lead on an RBI single to left center. The batter tried to advance to second base, but Mitchell threw her out to end the sixth inning.
Buffalo shut down the Huskies as they took the 3-1 home win.
The Bulls are back in action tomorrow with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. against the Huskies.
