BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team (13-5, 6-1 MAC) extended their winning streak to four matches with a 4-3 win over Ball State at Miller Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Bulls remain atop the Mid-American Conference standings with a 6-1 record in league action.
The Bulls won the doubles point as Daniils Snaiders and Cheng Tang cruised to a 6-0 victory at first doubles and Faiz Nasyam and Emiliano Jorquera followed with a 6-2 win at the third position to put UB up 1-0.
Snaiders then gave the Bulls their first point of singles action with a 6-4, 6-4 win at fourth singles and Nasyam followed with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at the fifth position to give the Bulls a 3-0 lead. The visitors got on the board with a win at second singles, but Emiliano Jorquera responded with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win at six singles to clinch the match for UB.
"Another good weekend for the Bulls," said head coach Lee Nickell. "I am proud that we have different guys stepping up every match to get us the win. Credit to Ball State for such a fight, but we feel we could have done a better job closing out leads in the top of the lineup. We will get back to work and prepare for a tough weekend in Illinois next week."
Up next, Buffalo will hit the road for a pair of matches beginning on Thursday, April 3 at Northern Illinois.
