Bulls Sweep Saturday Doubleheader

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team concluded the weekend with a pair of wins as they defeated Niagara 6-1 before sweeping IUP 7-0 on Saturday at Miller Tennis Center.
In the first match of the day against Niagara, the Bulls earned the first point of the match as Esmee Andresen and Maria Glowacka earned a 6-2 win at first doubles and the freshman duo of Liv Roestel and Blanca Berges followed with a 6-2 win of their own at the third position.
The Bulls then took five of six singles matches as Andresen cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win at first singles, Glowacka cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at the third position and Julia Laspro earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at fourth singles. Roestel picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at fifth singles and Berges earned herself a double bagel victory at the sixth position.
In the night match against IUP, the Bulls started strong once again as Andresen and Glowacka won 6-3 at first doubles and Roestel and Berges rolled to a 6-1 win at third doubles to give UB a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Bulls then swept singles action as Andresen and Glowacka each one by a score of 6-2, 6-3 at first and second singles, respectively, and Laspro cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the third position. Berges battled in her match, overcoming a dropped second set to win 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 at fourth singles and Roestel and Deanne Choo followed with straight set victories of their own at the fifth and sixth positions.
Up next, the Bulls will travel to Youngstown State on Friday, February 7 for a 3pm contest before returning home to host Skidmore and the University of Rochester in a doubleheader at Miller Tennis Center on Saturday.
