Bulls Set For Big 4 Battle With St. Bonaventure on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – Fresh off its first win of the season, the University at Buffalo women's basketball team (1-3) travels to St. Bonaventure for a Big 4 battle with the Bonnies on Wednesday at 6pm.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with James Torres (play-by-play) and Kyle Maier (color) announcing and can be heard on AM 1400 and the Varsity Network with Vinnie Christiano III on the call.
This is the 36th meeting between Buffalo and St. Bonaventure with the Bonnies owning a slim 18-17 series advantage. UB has won eight straight mashups, most recently a 74-46 win at Alumni Arena last season.
In a game that featured 11 lead chances and 10 ties, Buffalo persevered to defeat Fordham 67-59 at Alumni Arena on Sunday afternoon. Junior guard Paula Lopez led the Bulls in scoring for the third straight game as she scored a game-high 19 points, including four makes from beyond the arc. Redshirt freshman guard Aniya Rowe stuffed the stat sheet, scoring a career-high 14 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists and freshman forward Meg Lucas recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
As a team, Buffalo leads the MAC and ranks 50th in the nation in offensive rebounding (15.8) and are averaging 13 second chance points per contest. They notched a season-best 23 offensive boards and 25 second chance points in the win over Fordham. UB also leads the MAC and rank in the top 20 nationally in three-point field goal defense (.200).
St. Bonaventure is 4-0 overall after defeating Canisius 66-61 on Friday. The Bonnies, selected 14th in the preseason Atlantic 10 coaches poll, return just three players from a season ago while adding 12 newcomers, including seven transfers and five freshmen. UAlbany Laycee Drake leads the Bonnies offensively, averaging a team-best 17.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Niagara transfer Aaliyah Parker is also averaging in double figures at 11.0 points per contest.
As a team, St. Bonaventure is averaging 42.3 rebounds per game and have recorded 40+ rebounds in three of their first four games. The Bonnies are currently +12.0 in rebounding margin, ranking second in the A-10 and in the top 40 nationally. On the offensive glass, the Bonnies are pulling down 13.5 rebounds per game which they've turned into 14 second chance points per contest.
Up next, Buffalo will have a week off before heading to San Juan for the Puerto Rico Classico on November 27-29 where they will face off against Longwood and Hampton.
