Donmez Shines on International Stage at 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA – Pinar Donmez of the University at Buffalo swimming and diving program competed at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games this week, posting an event win and two more podium finishes while representing Turkey. The sixth edition of the games featured 57 countries competing across 23 categories of sport.
Donmez highlighted her week by winning the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:10.25 in the finals on Sunday. The freshman also earned a second place finish in the preliminary round of the event with a time of 1:11.23 in the field of 12 swimmers.
Donmez continued her momentum into Monday, taking first place in the preliminary round of the 200-meter with a time of 2:40.49. The freshman placed second in the finals round of the event with a personal best time of 2:32.91.
Donmez opened the 50-meter breaststroke preliminary round on Tuesday by taking first place in the two-heat field of 15 swimmers with a time of 32.01. The freshman secured another podium finish by taking second place in the event finals with a time of 32.24.

Donmez and the Bulls return to competition on Friday, November 21st, in the Alumni Arena Natatorium as they host Canisius and Niagara in the UB Invite. The first session of the three-session meet begins at 5 p.m. A complete schedule for Buffalo swimming and diving can be found here.
