BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program is continuing its season on Saturday in the Alumni Arena Natatorium against Toledo. Action in the pool begins at 11 a.m.
The Bulls enter their third competition of the season with a 2-1 record. The program opened the season with a 213-85 win over Niagara, followed by a 180-173 win over Marshall. The Bulls' lone loss came against Ohio, 213-140.
The Bulls have had a strong start to the season in the pool. 2025 MAC Freshman Swimmer of the Year Bella Forsman picked up where she left off, posting five individual event wins in the program's two tri-meets thus far. Forsman earned two at Ohio, the 200-yard individual medley (2:01.94) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:19:89). The sophomore also posted a third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:02.00) and took fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (23.79) to help the Bulls defeat Marshall. Forsman's individual medley times sit atop the conference so far this season.
Freshman Pinar Donmez has begun her career at Buffalo in style, posting two program all-time top 10 times at Ohio. Donmez opened the tri-meet on Friday with a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke and a time of 2:14.69, rising to second all-time in program history. The freshman then posted a time of 1:02.21 in the 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday, taking fourth all-time in program history.
Adele Melamud has headlined for the divers thus far, winning all four diving events that the Bulls have competed in this season. The freshman was named the MAC Female Diver of the Week for her one-meter (269.40) and three-meter (296.60) wins at Ohio. Melamud became the fifth diver in program history to earn the honor, and the fourth to do it as a freshman.
The Bulls have dominated the diving well as a team this season. Across the four diving events the program has competed in, the Bulls have taken four of the top five spots on three occasions. Sophie Meuwissen has earned two second-place finishes, one in the one-meter at Ohio (261.95) and one in the three-meter (293.10) against Cornell and Niagara. Mallory Hanna has also placed inside the top six divers in all four events, including a pair of third-place finishes against Cornell and Niagara.
Toledo leads the all-time series against the Bulls, 13-9, but the Bulls have won eight consecutive head-to-head meets, dating back to 2015. The Rockets have not defeated the Bulls in a head-to-head contest since 2011.
