CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Mid-American Conference announced on Wednesday afternoon that Nicole Aguilar of the University at Buffalo swimming and diving team is this week's MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week. Aguilar, a senior at UB, is a biomedical sciences major with a 4.0 grade point average.
On Saturday, in the opening meet of the season, Aguilar helped the Bulls to a 213-85 victory over Niagara by winning three events. The senior was a member of the Bulls' winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:44.35) to open the meet, followed by event wins in the 100-yard butterfly (56.50) and the 50-yard butterfly (25.53).
The Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC student-athlete with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. An institution can nominate one male and one female student-athlete per week in any of that current season's sports. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).
Aguilar and the Bulls are back in action on Friday and Saturday, competing in a tri-meet at Ohio and versus Marshall. A complete schedule for Buffalo swimming and diving can be accessed here.
