Dive Hosts Annual UB Diving Invite This Weekend, As Swim Hits The Road To Compete at Duquesne

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program is splitting up between two competitions this weekend. The diving team is hosting its annual UB Diving Invite this Friday through Sunday, with Eastern Michigan, Ohio, Akron and Duquesne traveling to compete against the Bulls. Meanwhile, the swim team will be heading to Duquesne University on Saturday to compete against the Dukes at 11 am.
UB DIVING INVITE
Friday begins the weekend of competition in the diving well and will feature three-meter diving. The preliminary round of the event will take place at 11 am, with the top 12 divers participating in the finals that follow.
Marialis Kwak has headlined for the Bulls this season, winning all four of the three-meter competitions the team has competed in thus far. At Akron's Zippy Invite the senior won the event in the field of 20 divers with a finals score of 300.15, while also setting a season-best score of 304.70 in the preliminary round. Mallory Hanna (3rd, 280.80) and Sophie Meuwissen (4th, 281.18) also earned top-five finishes.
On Saturday the diving teams will resume competition at 11 am with one-meter diving. The top 12 divers will compete in the finals that follow. The teams will also participate in a team diving event that afternoon.
Kwak also has won all four of the one-meter diving competitions the Bulls have competed in this season, including her victory at Zippy Invite in a field of 22 divers with a finals score of 295.20. Senior Presley Dorsett also earned a podium finish at Akron, taking third with a score of 265.70 in the finals. Meuwissen (4th, 264.10) and Hanna (5th, 263.70) earned top-five finishes too, putting four Bulls inside the top five divers to place. Hanna joined the program's record books in the preliminary round of the one-meter at the Zippy Invite, with her score of 280.60 ranking ninth all-time.
The Bulls also won the team diving competition on the opening day at Akron. Buffalo's team of Kwak, Dorsett and Kaylee Donovan took first place with a score of 296.80. The Bulls also took second in the event with a team of Hanna, Daphne Fox and Maggie Meyers finishing with a score of 253.10.
Sunday will close out the competition in the diving well with platform diving at 10:30 am. The Bulls have yet to compete in platform diving this season.

SWIM AT DUQUESNE
The swim team will compete on Saturday at Duquesne in a head-to-head swimming only meet at 11 am. The matchup marks the seventh consecutive season the two programs have competed head-to-head and the ninth time overall, with the Bulls taking eight of the nine contests.
In the pool the Bulls are building off of an impressive performance at the Zippy Invite, finishing third of six teams while posting a new individual school record and five new all-time top ten times.
Mia Naccarella broke her previous school record of 52.74 in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.43 in the event. Naccarella also finished the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.99, less than a second shy of her personal record (1:56.21) that ranks third in program history.
Isabella Forsman earned three individual top-five finishes at the Zippy Invite too. The freshman's performances included an event win in the 400-yard individual medley (4:20.30), a third-place finish in the finals of the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.56) and a fourth-place finish in the finals of the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.46). Forsman's 400-yard individual medley time of 4:20.30 was a personal record that joined the program record books to rank seventh all-time. Forsman also finished first of 52 swimmers in the preliminary round of the 200-yard individual medley with a personal record time of 2:01.71, joining the all-time program record books to rank seventh in the event.
Grace Rider and Ava Pauly made their marks on program history in the 100-yard breaststroke. Rider moved up the all-time leaderboard for the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.30 in the event finals to place fourth. Rider's time broke her record of 1:03.05 set at last year's MAC Championships. Pauly joined Rider in the record books, finishing 10th with a personal record time of 1:03.41. Pauly's time ranks 10th all-time in program history for the event.
