Sabol’s 25-Point Performance Not Enough to Soar by Eastern Michigan
1/25/2025 5:43:00 PM | Men's Basketball
YPSILANTI, Mich. – Sophomore guard Ryan Sabol scored 25 points including 6 three-pointers as the University at Buffalo men's basketball team (6-13, 1-6 MAC) couldn't get by the Eastern Michigan Eagles (10-9, 4-3 MAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles held off the Bulls for the 90-77 win.
For the fifth time this season and seventh time in his career, Sabol finished with at least 20 points. He finished 8-for-14 from the floor matching Tyson Dunn as he finished with 19 points. Dunn added 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Noah Batchelor led the Bulls in rebounding for the 10th time this season as he tallied 9.
The Bulls shot 53.1% from the floor in the first half with 8 three-pointers. The Eagles shot 55.2% in the opening half, but only connected on 4 threes. It was a back-and-forth affair in the first half as there were four lead changes and eight ties. Eastern Michigan managed to take a 29-21 lead at the 9:05 mark, but the Bulls defense transitioned into great offense. Buffalo swung the game into their favor as they finished the half on a 24-13 run to take a 45-42 lead into the locker room.
Out of the half, the offense started where it ended as they extended their lead to 10 at 57-47 forcing an Eagles' timeout. Out of the timeout, Eastern Michigan stormed back as they tied the game at 62 with 10:43 remaining. The Eagles were then solid on both ends of the floor as they ended the game outscoring the Bulls, 28-15.
The Bulls are back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 28th as they host the Central Michigan Chippewas. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
