Bulls Show Promise at Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN, CT – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team continued fall action this weekend at the Yale Invitational, where four Bulls competed and found success in both singles and doubles action.
In Round 1 on Friday, Theodoros Mitsakos and Faiz Nasyam got the Bulls off to a great start with a B1G 6-3 win over Penn State in doubles play. In singles action, Cheng Tang defeated Yale 6-2, 6-3 and Mitsakos also earned a straight sets win, 7-6, 6-1 over Penn State. Senior Daniils Snaiders followed with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win over Penn State while Nasyam came up just short in a three-set battle, falling 2-6, 6-2, 7-6.
On Saturday, the Bulls got off to a solid start once again as Mitsakos and Nasyam defeated Cornell 6-2 and Snaiders and Tang picked up a 6-3 victory over Penn State. Later in the day, those duos continued their stellar play as Mitsakos and Nasyam defeated Penn State 6-3 while Snaiders and Tang defeated NJIT 6-4. In singles action, Snaiders cruised to a 6-0,-6-1 win over Penn State and Tang also defeated Penn State 6-0, 6-3.
Nasyam turned in another solid performance on Sunday, defeating Penn State 6-2, 6-4.
Up next, Buffalo will return to action on October 11-13 at the Dartmouth Invite.
