
Volleyball Announces 2024 Non-Conference Slate

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team announced their 2024 non-conference slate on Tuesday morning. In total, the schedule will have one exhibition and 13 matches. The Bulls will play six teams that made postseason appearances in the 2023 season, five of which were in the NCAA Tournament.
The Bulls will open with an exhibition against the Syracuse Orange on Saturday, Aug. 24.
For the first regular season match, the Bulls will host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies in the Buffalo Invite on Friday, Aug. 30. The following day, the Hampton Pirates will battle UB as the team will wrap up the invite against the Army West Point Black Knights on Sunday, Sept. 1.
On Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Bulls will travel down to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers. Pitt is coming off a 29-5 season as they made it to the National Semifinals where they fell to the No. 1 team in the country in Nebraska.
That weekend, the Bulls will play in the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament hosted by Colgate. They open the tournament against the UConn Huskies on Friday, Sept. 6. On Saturday, the Bulls will play the reigning Patriot League Champions in the Colgate Raiders. In the NCAA Tournament, Colgate lost to No. 17 Creighton in the First Round. UB will close the tournament against Stony Brook on Sunday, Sept. 8.
The next weekend, the Bulls will travel to Columbus, Ohio to play in the Buckeye Invite. They open competition against the Wright State Raiders on Friday, Sept. 13. The Raiders won the 2023 Horizon League Title then went on to play No. 7 Louisville in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bulls will play host Ohio State on Saturday. On Sunday, UB will battle the Miami Hurricanes. The Hurricanes defeated Northern Iowa in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament but would then fall to 1-seeded Wisconsin in the Second Round.
The Bulls will be home for a midweek match against Big 4 rival Niagara on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
For the final weekend of non-conference play, the Bulls will head south to the Sunshine State to Gainesville, Fla. for the Gator Invite. They'll open against North Texas on Saturday, Sept. 21. The Mean Green played in the NIVC last season. On Sunday the Bulls will wrap up non-conference play against the Florida Gators. The Gators beat in-state foe Florida Gulf Coast in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. In the Second Round, they lost to Georgia Tech.
