
Amos' Historic High Jump Season Comes To An End At NCAA East First Rounds

LEXINGTON, KY. – Zahra Amos of the University at Buffalo Track & Field team participated in the first round of the NCAA Championships on Saturday, competing in the high jump against student-athletes from the east region.
Amos missed the qualifying height for the NCAA Outdoor Championships (1.81m), finishing with a mark of 1.76 meters. The junior's jump tied her career outdoor record that ranks third all-time in UB outdoor history. Amos finished 14th of 48 competitors in the east region, with the top 12 advancing to NCAA Outdoor Championships. All results from the NCAA East First Rounds can be accessed here.
"Zahra had a strong performance today," said Head Coach and Director Vicki Mitchell. "She was clean over the first three heights. She won't advance to unfortunately, but she had a great performance and a season to remember."
Amos had a breakthrough year in the high jump, winning Mid-American Conference gold medals in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. The junior was the first woman in Buffalo's history to win a gold medal in the event at MAC Outdoor Championships, where she set her new personal best of 1.76 meters. In the indoor season, Amos broke the UB indoor record with a personal best jump of 1.80 meters. The junior earned First Team All-MAC honors for both indoor and outdoor seasons, as well as Academic All-MAC honors.
