Bulls Shine in 6-1 Win over Youngstown State on Friday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team (8-1) put forth a stellar effort from start to finish in a 6-1 win over two-time defending Horizon League champion Youngstown State on Friday afternoon at Miller Tennis Center. It is UB's first win over the Penguins in four years.
The Bulls got off to a great start, winning the doubles point as Ambre Amat and Esmee Andresen cruised to a 6-0 win at first doubles and Azra Deniz Comlek and Laura Koralnik followed with a 6-2 win at the second position to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead.
Andresen gave the Bulls their first singles point of the afternoon with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the fourth position. Koralnik picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at third singles and Comlek clinched the match with a 7-6(4), 6-2 win at the second position. Amat put together a thrilling comeback at fourth singles, winning 7-5, 6-2, 10-8 and Mariana Carvajal Torres also came away with a three-set victory at the sixth position.
Buffalo continues weekend play tomorrow as they take on Mercyhurst at Miller Tennis Center at 12:30pm.
