Sabol Buries Seven Three-Pointers in Bulls 87-73 Loss at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Despite Ryan Sabol making a career-high seven three-pointers in the Stroh Center on Tuesday evening, it wasn't enough to propel the Bulls over the Falcons. The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (2-20, 1-9 MAC) lost to the Bowling Green Falcons (16-7, 7-4 MAC) in an 87-73 decision.
On the night, Sabol went 7-for-10 from three-point range to finish with a career-high 21 points. His seven threes are tied for 10th in program history for most threes in a single game with Jayvon Graves (2019 & 2020), Tony Watson (2013), Jamie Anderson (1995 & 1996) and Mike Martinho (1996).
Shawn Fulcher finished with 19 points on the night, a point shy of his career high. Fulcher tied his career high in assists with five. He wasn't the only Bull that distributed the ball against the Falcons. Isaiah Adams and Jonnivius Smith each had six assists. Sy Chatman scored 11 points with Adams adding 10 for the Bulls. Bryson Wilson tied his career-high four points as he buried a three-pointer.
The Bulls and Falcons traded blows in the first half of MACtion. With a Fulcher jumper outside the paint, Buffalo led, 9-6 with 14:43 to go in the half. This marked Buffalo's largest lead of the night. Tied at 26 at the 4:13 mark, the Falcons used an 8-0 run to close the half. This included a buzzer beating layup off a Buffalo miscue on the other end. Bowling Green led 34-26 at the half.
Buffalo started the second half on a 10-2 run to cut the Falcons' lead to 38-36. However, the single digit Bowling Green lead turned into double digits quickly. The Bulls gave it their all to stay in the game as they forced six second half turnovers. Bowling Green's size allowed the Falcons to score 56 of their 87 points in the paint, the most allowed by the Bulls this season.
The Bulls are back in action on Saturday as they battle the Georgia Southern Eagles at 3 p.m. This will be the second matchup of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.
