Dolac Named Burlsworth Trophy Nominee

FAYETTEVILLE, AR – The Burlsworth Trophy announced 78 players nominated from Division 1 (FBS) schools from across the country for the 2024 Burlsworth Trophy. University at Buffalo linebacker Shaun Dolac was among the nominees.
The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding football player in America who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field. Each nominee must have begun his first season of participation with FBS (D1) football program without financial aid of any kind from his university's athletic department.
Dolac began his UB career as a walk-on in 2020. Prior to the 2021 season, the West Seneca, NY native was awarded a scholarship. A semifinalist for the award in 2022, Dolac is currently enjoying the best season of his career. He leads the nation in tackles with 120 and has added 11.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions and three pass breakups. He has been named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week three times this season.
He ranks ninth in program history with 343 career tackles and fifth in solo tackles with 199.
A multiple Academic All-MAC selection, Dolac has proven to not only be a standout on the football field, but in the classroom as well.
