Bulls Conclude Fall Season at UB Invite

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team concluded the fall season by hosting the UB Indoor Invite at the Miller Tennis Center, where they welcomed competitors from St. John's, George Washington, Syracuse, and Niagara. The weekend was played in a hidden dual format with UB playing different teams each day.
On Friday the Bulls faced off against St. John's where the Red Storm took the doubles point with wins at first and third doubles. Esmee Andresen and Marta Giglio picked up a hard-fought 7-5 win at the second position. Andresen then battled to a 7-6(5), 6-4 win at second singles, Maria Glowacka picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the third position. Blanca Berges cruised to an opening set win before overcoming a dropped second set to win 6-1, 6-7, 10-8 at sixth singles.
On Saturday, Buffalo took on George Washington where the Colonials took the doubles point with wins at first and third doubles. The Bulls then rallied in singles play, winning five of six matches, including four in straight sets. Jagmeet Kaur cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at first singles and Andresen picked up a 6-1, 7-6 win at the second position. Glowacka then rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win at third singles and Julia Laspro battled to a 7-5, 6-2 victory at the fourth position. Deanne Choo then capped things off as she overcame a dropped first set to win 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 at sixth singles.
On Sunday, Buffalo played a combination of players from Syracuse and Niagara where the Bulls turned in an impressive singles performance winning six of seven matches. Andresen battled back from a dropped third set to win 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 at second singles. Glowacka followed with a 6-4, 7-5 win at third singles and Laspro picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at the fourth position. Choo cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles and Berges followed with a strong showing of her own, also winning 6-0, 6-1 at the sixth position. Giglio then picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win in the final match of the day.
The Bulls will resume competition when their spring season begins in late January.
