Bulls Host the Morgan State Bears in their First Game of the Buffalo Classic

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (2-3, 0-0 MAC) will host the Morgan State Bears (3-3, 0-0 MEAC) on Friday evening at 7 p.m. for their first game of the Buffalo Classic. The action can be seen on ESPN+ with tip-off at 7 p.m. with Paul Peck and Wall of Famer Turner Battle will be on the call. Josh Whetzel can be heard on the Varsity Network or on the radio on Buffalo 1520/Rochester 1280.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulls are coming off a 78-67 loss to the Vermont Catamounts on Tuesday evening. On the night, Ryan Sabol led the Bulls with 22 points. This marked his 14th career game scoring in double figures as he's done so in every game this season. He finished 8-for-16 from the floor and 3-of-5 from three-point range. Noah Batchelor had a career day as he recorded his first double-double with career-high marks in points and rebounds with 16 and 10, respectively. Tim Oboh scored a career-high 8 points as Bryson Wilson added 11. Anquan Boldin Jr. and Wilson had 2 blocks each on the night. At the glass, Lloyd McVeigh tallied 5 rebounds.
ABOUT THE SERIES
This will be the second meeting between the Bulls and Bears. It has been nearly 30 years since Buffalo and Morgan State have played each other. Buffalo will host both meetings between the two programs with the first game having been played on Dec. 13, 1996. The Bulls won, 85-70.
The Bulls are 5-7 (.417) all-time against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Buffalo's last win over a MEAC opponent was on Dec. 10, 2016, when the Bulls defended Alumni Arena against the Coppin State Eagles, 87-52. The last time they faced a MEAC program was at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands when they fell to the Howard Bison, 63-59, on Nov. 19, 2022.

Sabol has made a team-high 19 three-pointers on the season that ranks him 12th in the country and good for the top spot in the MAC. His 3.80 three-pointers per game is 17th in the country and first in the MAC. He is shooting 45.2% from deep on the season.
Sabol has scored a team-high 96 points on the season, good for 19.2 ppg. He's second in the MAC to Bowling Green's Marcus Johnson who's averaging 19.8 ppg.
Tyson Dunn's 34 total assists is 11th in the country. His 6.8 assists per game is 19th in all of college basketball.
