Bulls Have Series of Season-Best Times In Day One at Marshall

Huntington, W. Va. – The University at Buffalo women's swimming & diving team competed on the campus of Marshall University on Friday evening, taking on the Thundering Herd in day one of the two-day competition. The two programs competed head-to-head in ten events on day one.
Mia Naccarella won two events for the Bulls, the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard freestyle. Naccarella's first-place time of 2:01.61 in the 200-backstroke was her fastest this season. The graduate student doubled back to take the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.43, the fastest time in the freestyle event by a Buffalo swimmer this season. Elise McCaul placed third in the event too with a time of 1:53.85, earning three points for Buffalo. Sawyer Bosley added another point in fifth (1:54.95). Both were season-best times for the upperclassmen.
Isabella Forsman continues to make her mark for the Bulls early on in her freshman campaign. Forsman took second in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:23.99. The freshman trailed the first-place finisher by just a tenth of a second (4:23.89). Forsman also combined with junior Nicole Aguilar to finish second and third in the 100-yard butterfly. Aguilar took second with a season-best time of 57.22 as Forsman placed third with a time of 57.41.
Jillian Strine was Buffalo's top finisher in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing third with a time of 24.48. The sophomore was just three-tenths of a second shy of first place (24.17). Strine missed her season-best mark by just over a tenth of a second too (24.34). Bosley was also strong for the Bulls in the event, taking fourth with a time of 24.80.
The Bulls took second in both relay events on the day. The two programs opened the meet with the 400-yard medley relay. Buffalo's relay team of Naccarella, Grace Rider, Aguilar and Forsman finished the event with a time of 3:49.72. Day one of the two-day meet was closed out with the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Bulls team of Naccarella, Bosley, Forsman and Strine took second with a time of 1:36.58.

The Bulls and Thundering Herd will resume competition on Saturday morning at 10 am. The two programs will compete in ten more events tomorrow, including both one-meter and three-meter diving. More information for this weekend's competition can be accessed here.
