BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (7-10, 3-1 MAC) swept the Kent State Golden Flashes (1-13, 0-4 MAC) on Saturday afternoon (25-18, 25-10, 25-19). The Bulls have now swept the Golden Flashes in five of the last six meetings.
The Bulls were aggressive on the attack as they had 17 more attempts than last night. Buffalo outhit the Golden Flashes, .283 to .053. The three-headed attack from Abby Leigh, Katrin Trebichavska and Emma Converse was lethal for the Bulls. A. Leigh had an error-free day with 11 kills and a career-high hitting percentage of .786. Trebichavska had a match-high 12 kills with Converse adding nine. Converse led the match with three aces setting a new career high.

It was not the best offensive set for both sides as Buffalo outhit Kent State, .075 to .000. At the media timeout, the Bulls were in the middle of a 5-0 run as they led, 17-10. The Golden Flashes fought their way back into the set, but the Bulls had three opportunities to reach set-point and capitalized on a Kent State service error to win the set, 25-18.
The Bulls kept it short and sweet in the second set as the took down the Golden Flashes, 25-10. Buffalo dominated with their attack as they outhit the opposition, .583 to .038. The Bulls closed the set on a 9-0 run.
Despite winning the third set, 25-19, the set was a one-sided affair. After being tied at 10, the Bulls pulled away as they led 15-11 at the media timeout. Buffalo totaled 17 kills in the set to Kent State's eight.
"It was great to get two sweeps over Kent State this weekend," stated Head Coach Scott Smith. "Both matches highlighted our offense, but what I was most pleased with was our defense. I thought we shut down Kent with tough serving and gritty defense. While there were plenty of standout performances, I was pleased with how well we played as a team."
The Bulls are back in action on Tuesday at Akron (7-9, 3-1 MAC) at 6 p.m.
