BUFFALO, NY - UB Athletics partnered with The Martin Group and the UB Startup and Innovation Collaboratory [The CoLab] for a night of networking, education, and community engagement. The Second Annual UB Athletics VIP Networking Event featured prominent UB student-athlete alumni, community leaders, local business owners, and a hand-selected group of UB student-athletes from all 16 sports.
The evening included educational speakers Julia Jornsay-Silverberg, a Social Media Coach, Charlie Bell, a Mental Performance Coach, and local entrepreneur Nick Ciavarella of Just Dishin'. Student-athletes engaged in a series of speed networking exercises, allowing them to interact with guests, network, and venture outside their comfort zones in a unique and intimate setting.
With over 70 attendees, the event was a huge success. UB Athletics is committed to providing a diverse and holistic experience on and off the field of play for its student-athletes. By utilizing a dedicated group of student-athlete alumni and the Buffalo business community, current student-athletes can develop into well rounded young adults who are ready for life after sport.
A special thanks to Meet and Eat Charcuterie and Hint Juice and Smoothie Bar for the excellent refreshments.

Hadar Borden, Director of the UB CoLab: "The collaboration between UB Athletics and the Startup & Innovation Collaboratory created an incredibly powerful event that opened our student-athletes' eyes to the vast opportunities available beyond their sport. It helped them understand the importance of building a personal brand, developing a social media presence connected to their student-athlete profile, and gaining invaluable insights into diverse career paths they might pursue. The event also provided the chance to establish lasting professional connections, expanding their vision for the future and empowering them to take the next steps in their journeys."
Chellia Watson, UB women's basketball student-athlete: "The event was great for networking and communicating with people from different backgrounds of life. The connections you build from it can be helpful. I enjoyed the speed rounds, talking and engaging with the speakers, and listening to their stories while getting feedback on my lifelong goals.
