
UB Student-Athletes Record Second-Highest GPA in Department History for Fall Semester

BUFFALO, NY – It was another successful semester in the classroom for UB student-athletes as they posted a 3.343 grade point average for the fall semester. It was the second-highest GPA in department history.
Women's tennis claimed the top spot for the fall semester with a 3.836 team grade point average. Men's tennis led all men's teams with a 3.513 GPA. Women's track and field and wrestling both posted their highest grade point averages in program history with a 3.509 and 3.407, respectively.
Women's tennis had the most improved semester from the spring, increasing their GPA by 0.226 points, followed by wrestling (+0.208) and women's cross country (+0.108).
For the third straight semester, every team had a 3.0 grade point average or better – women's tennis (3.836), swimming and diving (3.654), soccer (3.554), women's cross country (3.527), men's tennis (3.513), women's track and field (3.509), wrestling (3.407), volleyball (3.349), softball (3.333), men's basketball (3.325), women's basketball (3.303), men's track and field (3.145), football (3.144) and men's cross country (3.110).
The department had 44 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs and 174 posted a 3.5 or better. In all, 299 student-athletes (79 percent) reached the 3.0 plateau.
"This semester's academic results reflect a student-first approach that our student-athletes live out every day," Senior Associate Athletic Director for Championship Resources Aaron Stang said. "Their dedication and discipline, paired with intentional departmental support, have resulted in every team earning a 3.0 or higher for three consecutive semesters—a true testament to our culture of accountability and care."
