Bulls Sweep Mercer to Conclude Weekend Action

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team concluded weekend action with a stellar performance as they swept Mercer 7-0 on Saturday afternoon for their first win of the spring season.
Buffalo won the doubles point to start the day as Cheng Tang and Yu-Shiang Huang won 6-2 at first doubles and Daniils Snaiders and Michael Malkin won 6-2 at second.
Singles action continued with straight set wins for UB in five of six matches. Snaiders won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles, while Theodoros Mitsakos and Malkin picked up victories at third and fourth, winning 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-4, respectively. Huang battled to a 6-1, 6-2 win at fifth singles and Yunhan Jiang earned his first singles win of the spring with a 6-4, 7-5 victory at the sixth position. Tang then completed the sweep with a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 10-2 win at second singles.
"These past two weeks have been so beneficial for our group," said head coach Lee Nickell. "We want to thank all our alumni and supporters as we wouldn't have had this chance without them. We have so much to continue working on and we can't wait to get back to it next weekend."
Buffalo returns to action on Saturday, January 27 at Cornell.
